Individual Tours

Below you will find our tours offered to our groups in Nuuk. All tours can be mixed and matched to fit your groups interests and needs.

On Land

Guided City Tour

Our bus tour winds through the modern as well as old neighborhoods of Nuuk and the old colonial harbour. Starting in the modern suburb of Qinngorput, we travel back through time to the older Nuussuaq and the 1970’s row houses and apartment complexes, before moving through the still older but also modern downtown. We encounter the Herrnhut culture from the mid to late 1700’s before ending the tour in the old colonial harbour near Hans Egede’s house, where the first settlement started the modern colonization.

This tour is a perfect introduction to Nuuk and gives you a better understanding of the peoples and history of Nuuk and Greenland.

The bus we drive is very comfortable, and seats between 15 to 57 passengers. It is ideal for the modern-day tourist in Greenland.  There will be opportunities for light walking on the tour. Each tour comes complete with an English and Danish-speaking guide.

Time: 1½ to 2 hours.

Season:  All year

Bring:  Appropriate clothing and practical footwear.

Lille Marlene Hike

You do not have to go far from any city in Greenland before reaching some of the most wild and untouched wilderness. The hiking trails are quite often formed by reindeer herds and afford beautiful fjord views, pristine streams and scenic valleys.

After a transfer from your hotel, the hike starts north along the coastline of Nuuk, where you get a great view of the Nuup Kangia fiord system. In the fiord you’ll find a spectacular view of the mountain Sermitsiaq, which serves as the unofficial landmark of Nuuk. From there we move inland though Paradise Valley, which lies in between the mountains of Little Marlene and Big Marlene. The landscape is rugged terrain, with clear springs of drinkable water. We take a break here, where you can eat your food and ask our guide questions about local culture and life in Greenland. The trip ends with a beautiful walk along the lake ‘Cirkussøen’ and to Qinngorput, where you are picked up and transferred back to the city.

Time: 3 to 5 hours

Season:  March through November

Bring:  Good hiking boots, warm clothing and water bottle.

Nuuk Summit Helicopter Tour

Want to take your helicopter scenic flight to the next level? Experience the adventure of landing in the wilderness near the summit of either Sermitsiaq or Kingittorsuaq Mountain for a bird’s eye view of Nuuk and the Nuuk Fjord system.

The adventure begins in Nuuk’s airport, where your experienced pilot greets you and takes you out to the waiting helicopter.  There the pilot walks you through the key elements of the aircraft, takes you through a safety briefing, and lets you know which mountain you will be visiting on the excursion. Which mountain you’ll visit is determined by the weather conditions and will not be decided until just before the flight.

Now, just sit back and enjoy the views as you lift off and head for the designated peak.  During the flight you will have unparalleled views of Nuuk city and Nuuk Fjord system. You are able to talk to your pilot through your headset and ask questions about what you are seeing.

Landing a helicopter in the wilderness is an experience in and of itself, and you will likely have a bit of an adrenaline rush as your pilot searches for solid ground on which to land.  If there is snow at the summit, this can mean multiple landing attempts as your pilot compacts the snow to ensure a stable platform for the aircraft.

Once the helicopter has been shut down, you have around 20 minutes to explore this uncharted location that is only accessible by helicopter.  Make sure you bring plenty of warm clothing and extra batteries for your camera, as you will want to enjoy and capture this unique experience for as long as possible.

Indulge your inner thrill-seeker with a breath-taking scenic flight and summit landing.

Time: 1 hour

Season:  All year

Bring:  Warm clothing.  It is cold on the top.

At Sea

Fiord Adventure

You should choose this tour if you would like to enjoy nature in and around Nuuk’s fiords. We often see wildlife, such as white-tipped eagles, seals or possibly a humpback whale during the summer months. We don’t have a specific route for this tour, the captain might have heard of a whale sighting or an intriguing iceberg and will sail towards those if possible.

Sailing in Greenland can be just the kind of Transformational Travel you need. The stillness as we sail through the fiord, with no cell reception, gives you the utter sense of freedom that the first people must have felt when they arrived at the Greenlandic coastline around 5.000 years ago.

Time: 2 hours

Season: All year

Bring:  Warm clothing. The sea and ice are cold when you go outside.

Deep Sea Fishing

Fishing has always been – and still is – important to the Greenlandic peoples. Therefore, a fishing trip is one of the most authentic things you can experience.

The kind of fish we aim to catch will vary depending on the season. The main fish we catch is cod and red fish.

There is simple fishing gear available for use on the boat, but it is also possible to bring your own fishing rod and gear.

The tour is operated with Targa cabin boats with heating and indoor seating for all. It is also possible to enjoy the cruise on the walkaround deck with comfortable seating outside.

Time: 3 hours.

Season: All year

Bring: Warm clothing. The sea and ice are cold when you go outside.

Qoornoq Island

This tour takes us to the abandoned settlement of Qoornoq, where you go ashore and can explore the old settlement. This old island used to be a buzzing settlement with its own production of fish. The abandoned settlement is now used as a summer getaway or hunting destination for the locals.

After exploring the area, we continue our sailing tour around the island, where the captain will point out the old Norse settlement areas that used to be in the region.

The tour ends with a stop at the iconic waterfall on the backside of the mountain, Sermitsiaq.

The tour is operated with Targa cabin boats with heating and indoor seating for all. It is also possible to enjoy the cruise on the walkaround deck with comfortable seating outside.

 Time: 4 hours

Season: All year

Bring: Warm clothing, snacks and good footwear.

Icefiord Cruise

This excursion takes us into the ice fiord north of Nuuk, where most of the icebergs in and around the Nuuk fiord originate from. It’s a majestic display of icebergs in all sorts of shapes and blue tones, and luckily there are still quite a few of them here.

Here, north of the abandoned settlement of Qoornoq, we’ll find a good spot among the ice where we can enjoy the provided lunch, whilst listening to the crackling of ice as bubbles of air are released when they slowly melt away.

The tour is operated with Targa cabin boats with heating and indoor seating for all. It is also possible to enjoy the cruise on the walkaround deck with comfortable seating outside.

Kapisillit Icefiord Hike

On this trip, we take you deep into the ice fiord.  We sail for about two hours to where we will disembark and start the hike. The tour is operated with Targa cabin boats with heating and indoor seating for all.

The hike takes about an hour to reach a nice viewpoint of the ice fiord. The icebergs vary greatly in size and numbers depending on the activity of the 3 large glaciers that feed the ice fiord deeper down than what we can see from here.

On the boat ride there it’s possible to experience a variety of wildlife such as whales, seals, and eagles, although there is no guarantee.

Kapisillit has become home to the northernmost sheep farm in the world, which means we’re likely to find a couple of sheep roaming around, but also local wildlife such as reindeer, foxes, and hares have been known to cross by this area.

The hike itself isn’t difficult, but there is no trail and it’s important to wear good hiking boots as we might pass by some marshland.

The hike is not appropriate if you have any difficulty with hiking. But if you don’t then you’ll be rewarded with great views and the opportunity to eat your lunch before it’s time to head back.

The guide has extensive knowledge about the area so feel free to ask any questions you might have.

We invite you to join us for an experience of a lifetime on this Kapisillit Icefiord hike from Nuuk.

Time: 8 hours

Season:  June – October

Bring: What to bring: Lunch pack, bottled water, sunscreen, sunhat, long sleeve shirt and good hiking boots.

Qooqqut Catch’n Eat

This tour to the former settlement of Qooqqut and its restaurant Qooqqut Nuan is worth a trip to Greenland by itself.

The restaurant is in the fiord, so you sail from Nuuk in a fast-moving cabin boat. On the way to Qooqqut you can catch your own dinner, usually Atlantic Cod or Redfish. And yes, there is a catch guarantee. You will not have to fish long to catch your dinner.

Qooqqut Nuan`s pier ensures your feet will stay dry, and after a short walk of about 300 meters you arrive at the restaurant, boasting one of the best views of the fjord. Your fish then prepared for you by the restaurant’s chef. The sailing between Qooqqut and Nuuk is majestic in and of itself, and there’s a chance of spotting whales and other wildlife. You will not regret embarking on this trip of a lifetime!

Bring: Warm clothing, snacks and good footwear.

Note:  Dinner is included!

 Northern Lights

A Northern Lights boat tour in Nuuk is the perfect way to experience the Aurora Borealis.

Join us on this amazing excursion, where we set out when other boats snuggle in for the night. We go exploring in the cold arctic night in search of the amazing lights.

We cruise gently towards the vast fiord system, making multiple stops where we silence the boat and enjoy the setting in the sky.

The northern lights are a naturally occurring phenomenon, but it’s extremely difficult to say when it’ll show up. The great thing about going on our boats is that you’ll get away from all the light pollution in the city – giving a better and clearer chance of seeing the auroras as well as the Milky Way.

Time: 3 hours

Season: August – April

Bring: Extra warm clothing.

SUP & Kayak among Icebergs

On this tour you'll go on the ultimate adventure, paddleboarding or kayaking in the Nuuk Icefiord.

All necessary equipment will be provided, incl. a dry suit and such. There are a few kayaks ready for use at our destination so you can choose between kayaking or paddleboarding among the icebergs.

The tour to the ice fiord takes about 2 hours and we have approx. 2 hours to kayak and paddle, while our boat stays close by as a safety vessel. Our guide can instruct you on how to use either the kayak or the paddleboards.

During the tour it's possible to see icebergs, sometimes whales, seals and eagles depending on the season.

This will be an unforgettable experience and is probably why it's one of our most popular tours.

Time: 6 hours

Season: May - October

Bring: Warm socks, hat, gloves, woollen underwear. Warm clothing you can move in.

Whale Safari

The deep fiords are in some places all the way down to 600 meters in depth, which is the perfect place for the great gentle giants, the humpback whales, to live.

The humpback whale is one of the animals in the world that moves the furthest as they travel between the Arctic and the Caribbean and other warmer seas.

They come to Greenland during the summer, from June-September to eat large amounts of krill and small fish. The whales typically come from Haiti and Puerto Rico, where they breed in winter. Humpback whales can grow up to 18 meters long and can weigh up to 30 tons.

Please note, we do not offer any form of guarantee of seeing the whales, as these are wild animals that move around at their own free will. We do however have a very high success rate!

Bring: Warm clothing. The sea and ice are cold when you go outside.
